Bounding Unicorns

Argentine Tango - Milonga

Timing

Leader always starts with RF, but can move RF back or RF forward outside partner.

Basic - 6 Count

Leader's steps, from closed:

RF back (1)
LF left (2)
RF forward outside partner & twist R 45° (3)
untwist/rotate L 45° &
LF inline next to follower's LF (4^)
RF right (5^)
LF together (6)

(4) and (5) counts are frequently done in half beats (quick rhythm vs slow rhythm).

8 Counts

The basic can be extended to 8 counts by adding two steps in place on (7) and (8) or two forward walks on (5) and (6), in which case RF right and LF together become (7) and (8).

4 Counts

The last 4 steps of the 6 count basic can be executed by themselves:

RF forward outside partner & twist R 45° (3)
untwist/rotate L 45° &
LF inline next to follower's LF (4)
RF right (5)
LF together (6)

Left Rock Turn

Leader's steps, from closed:

RF forward outside partner & twist R 45° (3)
untwist/rotate L 45° &
    LF forward & rotate L 45° (4)
rock RF & rotate L 45° (5*)
rock LF & rotate L 45° (6*)
RF right (7)
LF together (8)

The rock steps (5-6) can be repeated any number of times, and are often taken in quick rhythm. Taking (4) in slow rhythm seems to be easier to follow, in whihc case (7) is also a slow step. If (4) is quick then (7) is also quick.

Right Rock Turn

Leader's steps, from closed:

rotate R 45° & RF back (1)
rock LF & rotate R 45° (2^)
rock RF & rotate R 45° (3*^)
rock LF & rotate R 45° (4*^)
RF right (5^)
LF together (6)

The rock steps (3-4) can be repeated any number of times. Steps (2-5) can be taken in quick rhythm.

RF left crossed in front (5*)
LF left (6*)
RF left crossed behind (7*)
LF left (8*)
RF forward outside partner (9)
LF forward inline (10)
RF right (11)
LF together (12)

Steps (5-8) can be repeated any number of times. Steps (4-11) can be taken in quick rhythm. The (4-9) steps of the grapevine itself should all have the same rhythm, either all quick or all slow.
